Job Summary
The Auburn University Athletic Department is currently accepting applications for a Sports Nutrition Intern for the 2022-2023 school year. The Auburn Sports Nutrition Intern position is a 11 month paid position.
This opportunity will allow the intern to gain experience working in collegiate Sports Nutrition with a variety of athletes. The Sports Nutrition Intern will work daily in the Auburn Athletics facilities as a member of the Sports Nutrition staff. Hours will vary and will include a non-standard workweek.
Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

• Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
• Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
• Assistance with special projects
• Seasonal work
• Emergencies

Essential Functions

• Providing nutrition expertise to student athletes through team talks, consultations and other educational strategies; assisting in teams' planning and execution of every day practice fueling, game day/travel nutrition, and competition fueling strategies.
• Assist in management of fueling stations including keeping inventory, managing, stocking, staffing and creating educational materials.
• Assist in development and improvement of nutrition education materials and resources. -Assist with body composition testing and analysis.
• Work closely with coaching staffs, athletic trainers, strength staffs and other individuals from the Athletic Department on any nutrition related matter.

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered Dietician Eligible (RDE) - RD license required within 90 days of hire.
• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field.

Expectations:

• Background and strong interest in Sports Nutrition.
• Ability to work a non-standard workweek, including some weekends and holidays.
• Strong communication (oral and written), organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office platforms.
• Creative thinking and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of Sports Nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, eating disorders/disordered eating.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and complete work tasks with minimal direction.
• Ability to be punctual, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
