Position Summary
This position is responsible for developing Novo's business with delegated accounts in a specific market or geography. Main responsibilities include starting, developing, and enhancing customer relationships and driving the sales process with positive sales and margin results that meet or exceed sales objectives. Additionally, it is important for this position to retain current business, convert new customers, and identify future opportunities for continuous market share growth. This is NOT a sales role.
Essential Responsibilities -
• Meet and exceed sales targets; achieve maximum sales in assigned territories through pro sales channels.
• Execute our service model and overall strategies to optimize the penetration of Novo's products in the specific geography.
• Strive to drive customer satisfaction and increase combined overall sales volume and profit margins for the pro sales market segments. This will be accomplished by maintaining current and developing new business with existing accounts and new customers.
• Establish credibility and respect with the pro sales account and stakeholders by conducting all business consistent with Novo's Vision, Values, and Strategies.
• Develop and maintain product and industry expertise in an assigned specialty area to support departmental efforts and use ingenuity to develop new sales approaches.
• Promptly address customer problems/complaints or, when appropriate, forward promptly to the appropriate person to manage/resolve the issue.
• Inform purchasing of large upcoming sales and out-of-stock concerns.
• Provide and report market intelligence on pricing and customer needs/special requests to Novo.
• Interact cooperatively with other departments and outside vendors, customers, and potential customers, demonstrating Novo's high standards of professionalism and integrity.
• Proactively partner and collaborate with the Inside Sales Representatives:
o To grow the assigned sales geography via increased sales volumes and profit margins.
o To properly cover assigned territories to ensure customer needs are met. Additionally, use sound judgment to minimize confusion or duplication of customer calls.
o To attain monthly budgeted sales figures and the projection of customer sales and gross margins.
o To properly process credits/returns, follow up on the hot sheet and not fully shipped reports, as well as other automated reports ensuring the paperwork is complete and that the processes are adhered to and are accurate.
• Follow established procedures for placing customer orders, servicing customers, adhering to pricing guidelines, and recommending changes when warranted to achieve overall company goals.
• Assist in training new personnel, demonstrating a high standard of teamwork, professionalism, and dedication to Novo's goals.
• Provide expertise and execution of take-offs and quotes of millwork packages.
• Work closely with the logistics team to ensure optimized truck runs with 100% fill rates.
• Assist in collecting overdue receivables.
• Become active with lumber/building material associations in assigned territory.
• Attend and participate in sales meetings, product and service training, seminars, and trade shows.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
• Previous sales experience with successful achievement of increasing revenue through current customers and developing a new customer base.
• Execution of Confidentiality & Non-Competition Agreement
• Valid un-restricted (other than for vision correction) driver's license with a proven good driving record
• Excellent time management skills, with the flexibility to work 50 hours per five-day work week, travel overnight, schedule travel to minimize travel time, schedule customer calls in clusters, schedule territory coverage efficiently, and spend maximum percent of the time in front of customers.
• Ability and willingness to utilize technology to enhance job performance.
• Stellar self-organization skills demonstrated by planning each day, week, and month, planning each call, keeping sales tools in mint condition, dressing neatly, maintaining a neat automobile, presenting a professional image representative of Novo's high standards, and continually systematically updating customer information.
• Conscientiousness in following established administrative procedures, including maintenance of customer information sheets and files, timely submission of credit applications for new accounts, call reports, sales plans, forecasts, customer targeting forms, monthly market updates, and expense reports.
• Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
• Ability to operate effectively within established budgetary constraints.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in the related field is preferred
• Effective English and Spanish communication skills, both oral and written, preferred
Travel Requirements
• Regular local travel within assigned territory may require overnight travel.
