Overview
Lafarge PNW Inc is a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality products for the construction industry and has an immediate opportunity at our Vancouver, WA Cement Terminal for a Terminal Operator.
The ideal candidate will operate and maintain terminal equipment with a focus on bulk truck loading and bulk rail car unloading with associated administration reporting functions; all while maintaining high safety and quality assurance standards. To be successful you will be comfortable with outdoor working conditions with higher percentage of physicality to the role. Operation, equipment and safety training will be provided as required.
Responsibilities:
Actively participate in and operate within the terminal Safety Program in compliance with Lafarge PNW Inc’s safety and environmental policies
Unload bulk railcars and load bulk semi-trucks
Operation and daily maintenance of rail unloading and bulk truck loading equipment
Operate mobile equipment
Supervise and direct contractors on site, when required
Supervision and direction of truck/railway carriers’ activities on site
Participate in shared inventory control
General labor related duties and cleanup
Terminal Housekeeping
Other associated duties that the employee is trained in-house or by requirement for
Qualification
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience and Skill Set:
Demonstrates commitment to safety for oneself and others
Mechanical aptitude a positive attribute
Time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently
Physically fit to encompass labor requirements of role
Demonstrate strong skills in problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking
Good verbal and written communication skills
Computer literacy: including Excel, Word programs a benefit
Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including nights and weekends
Able to lift 55 lbs
Valid driver’s license
Understanding of building materials industry, including cement product knowledge an asset
