ABOUT THE ROLE

The Terminal Manager's primary objective is to manage the marine unloading, distribution and storage activities of the St. Paul Minnesota terminal. The Terminal Manager will oversee facility optimization while maintaining the high standards of safety, quality and customer service at facility and operating within environmental regulations consistent with the business strategy and objectives of Holcim US. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Conduct all required safety training and reviewing current safety manuals updating them for changes in scope or regulations
  • Execute an effective inventory management strategy utilizing communication of potential issues to Manufacturing, Sales and Logistics to reduce the risk of customer service issues
  • Plan and manage Capex projects for terminals and marine assets
  • Conduct a daily audit and review of terminal employees work behavior to ensure that safety regulations are being followed
  • Effectively manage the operating budgets for terminal to ensure costs are controlled and commitments are met
  • Update standard operating procedures for process modifications and/or equipment additions.
  • Manage capital projects when required
  • Manage the inland marine aggregate.
  • Ensure inland towing vessel USCG Sub Chapter M compliance.
  • Provides oversight of the tactical supply of aggregate at Minneapolis and St. Paul terminals.
  • Ensures timely supply of marine capacity and low cost Utilization
  • Responsible for maintenance of owned and chartered boats and barges
  • Development and execution of the inland marine strategy
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Required Education: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
  • Experience related to working in a cement distribution facility as well as familiarity with aggregate discharge/ shipping/ distribution functions of a marine terminal
  • Good communication and interpersonal skill coupled with good negotiation, planning, scheduling and people management ability.
  • The ability to recognize production problems and the experience to solve those problems.
  • Good knowledge of Sand and Aggregate Mining and related Raw Materials Plant Production and the ability to motivate departmental personnel to meet production goals while maintaining the integrity of the safety program.
  • Understanding of computer programs. I.E. SAP, Microsoft, Google dox.
  • Needs to have a good working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, water systems, pumps, motors, conveyors, and air systems.
  • Must be a decision-maker that constantly incorporates common business sense into the decision-making process.
  • Material handling knowledge essential.
  • Knowledge of USCG Sub Chapter M, and USCG inland barge towing regulations.
