General Definition of Work
Performs advance skilled administrative and security work involved in acting as the primary coordinator and supervisor of the GCIC and NCIC terminals at the Sheriff’s department. The employee is responsible for the implementation of CJIS Policy and Procedures with the communications department. Employee ensures that all operators are knowledgeable of the operation and the security requirements of the GCIC and NCIC terminals, while making sure they are trained, receive and maintain certification through the state. Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

Essential Functions
Acts as senior coordinator of the Terminal Agency
Supervises and administers training for other terminal operators
Makes various entries on the GCIC and NCIC terminals
Makes corrections, modifications, supplements and verifies entries
Ensures timely, accurate and complete validation procedures
Maintains records and files required by GCIC and NCIC
CJIS network audit preparation
Disseminates copies of Dictaphone recordings for evidence when requested
Continues education and training required by the state to maintain certifications and ensures all operators and practitioners obtain and maintain certification.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of the correct operation and use of the GCIC and NCIC terminals; general knowledge of federal, state, and county ordinances, and regulations governing the dissemination of criminal information as well as knowledge of Public records Law/Dissemination and Records Retention Requirements; general knowledge of records management system standard operating procedures; effective problem solver with attention to detail; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to handle confidential information with professionalism; ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and to develop logical conclusions and/or solutions; ability to learn specialized department software applications; ability to process public interagency video records request; ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Prior GCIC experience preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State, and Federal records.
Be P.O.S.T certified, or obtain P.O.S.T. certification on the GCIC and NCIC terminals within in six months of hire.
Be certified, or obtain TAC certification within 90 days of appointment as TAC officer.
No convictions for any crime by the State or Federal government for which the punishment could have been imprisonment.
This is a 12-hour shift patrol rotation schedule which will includes days, nights and/or weekends.
