The Website Content & Communications Specialist will manage website projects across DPA, including website design and accessibility management, front end development, writing, and product research and implementation. The position will also provide communications support to the Public Information Officer as assigned, including the development and implementation of the department-wide communications strategy, inter- and/or intra-departmental communications projects, and with crisis management communications.

A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


Website Development and Design:

  • Develops web pages and intranet pages as assigned.

  • Assists and trains content managers across department to manage individual web pages.

  • Completes website development and design tasks using the Drupal platform as well as in Google pages.

  • Executes HTML coding tasks and utilizes Adobe programs.

  • Understands and applies the State's brand standards to all graphic and web design.

  • Understands and applies the most recent technology, including Siteimprove and Adobe products, industry standards, design principles to maximize the effectiveness of the department's web and intranet communication tools, including accessibility standards.

  • Position is in charge of website strategy as it relates to user experience and customer service across divisions.


Web Governance and Technology Accessibility Program (TAP):

  • Serve as agency lead on online accessibility standards.

  • Use tools to ensure products posted online are fully accessible to all who may access them.

  • Collaborate with agency teams and Office of Information Technology partners to implement key TAP deliverables.

  • Utilize project management practices and methodologies to work on complex solutions.

  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with agency leaders, program owners, OIT partners, other strategic partners, and vendors.


Social Media Management:

  • Manages the department YouTube channel, assists in managing and developing content for other social media channels, assists with the development and/or production of social media content,, and provides assistance and/or training for other Marcom staff members to understand and maximize the effective use of these tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Experience only:
At least 6 years of experience in in Website Content management.
OR
*Education and Experience:
At least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, Business Communications, Graphic Design or a field of study related to the work assignment AND two years of experience in Website Content management OR additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:
  • Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position.

  • Experience with Drupal content management system, Google pages, HTML coding, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Experience and expertise in public sector communications and Website Content management.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Conditions of Employment:
