Job Summary:

The College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), seeks applicants for Tenured or Tenure-track positions to teach and to conduct research in clinical nursing practice and outcomes research or clinical translational research. We seek faculty members with outstanding qualifications who share the University’s core values of high standards of excellence in innovative and collaborative research and demonstrate a commitment to health equity in education.
The College of Nursing and Health Innovation is particularly interested in recruiting innovative nurse scientists who can make a significant contribution to the college’s overarching theme of programming and research in health and disease across the lifespan, with a focus on advancing health and the human condition.
Specifically, CONHI seeks nurse scientists with expertise in advanced clinical practice and research backgrounds in the areas of psychiatric mental health nursing, pain management, patient safety, clinical quality, and evidence-based practice. Research on how social determinants of health affect the health of populations is valued. In addition, candidates early in their career must demonstrate strong potential to develop a research program supported by external funding, while more established candidates must demonstrate a strong history of, externally funded research agendas, with active funding preferred.
The positions are open rank and will be in the Graduate Nursing Department and/or Undergraduate Nursing Department. Candidates with outstanding skills in nursing practice and patient outcomes research will receive preference. Candidates at the tenured full professor level may be considered for appointment to an endowed professorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The individual will have an independent program of research and will collaborate with colleagues in Nursing, Kinesiology, and Public Health within the college. Opportunities for collaboration in conducting research include patient safety, aging, early interventions for children, pain management, community-based interventions for vulnerable populations, cardiovascular health, muscle and bone health disease, and health disparities, among other areas. Collaboration with colleagues in other colleges and departments is common. We foster and support interdisciplinary research and education.

Required Qualifications:

1. PhD in Nursing or a related field from a research-intensive program2. Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas3. A minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical, health system inpatient or outpatient setting and/or academia.4. Demonstrated commitment to nursing research, education, and service.

Preferred Qualifications:

A history of research publications, external research funding and postdoctoral fellowship training.

Department Information:

The College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington is the largest public not-for-profit college of nursing, with online and in-person students. The College is committed to the University’s goal of enhancing academic and research excellence, promoting access to education, and student success. The College has 500+ full-time and part-time faculty and has received 3 National League of Nursing Center of Excellence designations, including a new designation in the category “Advancing the Science of Nursing Education”. For FY 2022, the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research ranked CONHI #32 in receipt of NIH funding among Schools of Nursing. In FY 2021/2022, CONHI had active research awards totaling nearly $47.1 Million, including multi-year funding, and over forty active research faculty members.
The College has ongoing translational research that includes basic sciences, clinical, applied, and community studies in areas such as aging, cardiovascular, cardio-oncology, mental health, women’s health, skeletal muscle, patient safety, rural health, health disparities, and vulnerable populations. Additional local resources are also available to UTA researchers. UTA is part of UT Southwestern’s Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) and participates in a partnership with the Dallas-Fort Worth Federal Statistical Research Data Center that allows approved researchers to access confidential microdata from the Census Bureau and other federal agencies providing a locally available option for accessing restricted versions of datasets available for health studies.
