Are you a skilled tennis player with a passion for instructing others? Apply to join our team at the Cary Tennis Park!
The Tennis Instructor II will work at the Cary Tennis Park assisting tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff in the routine management of programs including camps, clinics, tournaments, and special events. Ideal candidates will be comfortable teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced players, both juniors and adults.
Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Tennis Program Specialist. Work requires public contact.
Work schedules will vary depending upon lessons, programs, and events, but will not exceed 20 hours per week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of tennis skills, rules and strategies; strong oral communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire knowledge of Town of Cary policies, procedures, and the services of the department; ability to interact with the public tactfully and constructively.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.
Requires tennis playing experience at a minimum of high school varsity level.
Prefers a minimum of one year tennis teaching experience; experience teaching beginners and intermediate juniors is preferred.
Prefers USPTA or USPTR certification.
Conditions of Employment
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.

- Leads or assists other tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff with camp and clinic instruction;
- Manages program and participant evaluations;
- Assists in tournaments and special events;
- May teach private lessons;
