Back to all Jobs Tennis Court Maintenance Casual Worker Department: Business Enterprise Division: 180790 - Tennis Center Job Status: Not Specified Rate of Pay: Up to $15.00 - per hour depending on area of assignment Status: Open Until Filled Details: Weekly Salary Range Apply Now Purpose This is a Temporary position, generally lasting for several months, with the potential to provide an opportunity for a Full-Time position. Responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and upkeep of our Tennis Courts with primary responsibilities to include sweeping, watering, and brushing the lines, repairing irrigation systems, replacing court materials, maintaining windscreens, controlling weeds, managing trash, and overall general upkeep. Also, performs manual work which may include the following duties: Daily court grooming includes sweeping lines, emptying trash cans around facility, blowing off islands, maintain lines and other minor repairs.

Resurfacing and grooming work before and after rain and weather events. General maintenance duties including applying weed killer and pesticides, de-weeding areas, secure fences around courts, applying surface algaecide to court surfaces, clean courts, and other surfaces of dirt & algae, etc. Maintain a variety of nets, zip tie windscreens center strap anchors, etc.

Clean and sanitize drinking fountains, golf carts, etc. Maintain and operate a variety of equipment to include scorekeeper boards, ball machines, gas engine roller, gas weed eater, gas blower, grinder machine, brooms, Clean and maintain bathrooms during events. Manage subsurface water main valves throughout the day.

Set-up bleachers as required for events. Maintain equipment and supply shed in a neat fashion. Minimum Qualifications Education, Training & Exprerience - High School Diploma/GED.

Previous experience in Tennis Court Maintenance is preferred. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. Knowledge of Har-Tru courts is highly desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires you to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends. Must have ability to work in various weather conditions. Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Involves routine work according to clearly prescribed standard practices, with some latitude for independent judgment. Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment required in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences. ADA COMPLIANCE Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (20-50 pounds) and occasional heavier objects, etc.

(up to 100 pounds). Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate depths. Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination.

Some tasks require oral communications ability. Environmental Factors: Tasks may risk exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise and machinery. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS The work performance of non-supervisory personnel of the City of Daytona Beach is routinely evaluated according to the performance criteria outlined herein: Knowledge of Job: Has working knowledge of the methods, procedures, and policies of the City of Daytona as such pertain to the performance of the essential duties of the position.

Has working knowledge of principles and practices of unskilled manual work. Has considerable knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Has working knowledge of the organization of the department, and of related departments and agencies.

Clearly understands the occupational hazards and safety precautions required to perform the essential functions of the work. Has working knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertain to work responsibilities.
