Position Summary
The Tennis Coach/Instructor is responsible for recruiting, advising, training, and preparing all athletes in the tennis program as well as teach course(s) based on credentials and needs of the college.
Note: Position is based and will coach women's tennis at the Alexander City campus at time of hire. Men's tennis will be added in Spring 2024 at the Prattville campus. The ideal candidate will coach both men and women's tennis teams and must be willing to travel. Base change location will be determined by the President.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and teaching experience according to Salary ScheduleD1-1A ($45,676 - $71,283) - 9 months. An additional summer contract may be available dependent upon enrollment ($14,102 - $22,047) - 3 months; ($59,778 - $93,330) - 12 months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Adheres to the policies, procedures, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, Alabama Community College System, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.
  2. Responsible for recruitment of tennis players.
  3. Recruits and manages student manager(s).
  4. Participates and coordinates fundraising activities for tennis team as assigned.
  5. Assists with fundraising activities for Athletic Department as assigned.
  6. Coordinates daily care of athletic facilities.
  7. Provides daily supervision of the student athletes.
  8. Enforces College policies and Student Code of Conduct with student athletes.
  9. Immediately informs Athletic Director and Police Chief of match schedule changes.
  10. Models professional and appropriate behavior at all times to student athletes. Immediately reports any violations of College, ACCC, and NJCAA policy to the Athletic Director.
  11. Schedules tennis matches and tournaments in accordance with NJCAA and ACCC guidelines.
  12. Submits student services forms and data in a timely manner as directed.
  13. Ensures institutional compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  14. Prepares required reports as required by Central Alabama Community College, the Alabama Community College System, and other regulatory agencies.
  15. Advises students and monitors their academic progress as assigned.
  16. Attends departmental meetings as assigned.
  17. Coordinates travel arrangements for student athletes per approved policies and procedures.
  18. Submits budget requests, purchase requests, and travel requests in accordance with local and Alabama Community College System policies and procedures.
  19. Assists the Athletic Director as needed across the Athletics Department with Gameday Manager duties, scheduling of security, athletic trainers, athletic website updates, reporting, player development, etc.
  20. Designs a recruitment plan tailored for assigned territory to meet short-term and long-term goals.
  21. Plans and executes a territory management plan, conducting student recruitment/outreach activities on and off campus as well as virtually.
  22. Represents Central Alabama Community College on and off campus as needed.
  23. Models and promotes respect in advancing CACC's efforts to build an inclusive, respectful campus community.
  24. Plans and participates in recruitment and enrollment activities, including open houses, regional presentations, orientation programs, career days, regional college fairs, scholarship days, and virtual events.
  25. Represents the College on high school honor days as assigned.
  26. Builds brand awareness and reputation in prospective student, parent, and school communities.
  27. Develops and presents public presentations designed to promote the College.
  28. Meets with prospective students and parents to provide individual counseling on educational options and alternatives.
  29. Monitors student behavior trends and student interests.
  30. Maintains data in the College CRM, updates recruitment information in a timely fashion, and assist in application processing as needed.
  31. Anticipates and responds to the needs of prospective students and families from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  32. Collaborates with Student Services staff to assist prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment to the College.
  33. Demonstrates an awareness of CACC academic and CTE course requirements.
  34. Collaborates with instructional Deans and dual enrollment staff on recruitment needs.
  35. Participates in professional growth activities as assigned.
  36. Assists with updates to the Student Athletic Handbook on an annual basis.
  37. Keeps the chain of command informed of all matters regarding the tennis program.
  38. Works a flexible schedule to include weekends and nights.
  39. Adheres to all College, ACCC, and NJCAA policies.
  40. Performs other job-related duties that pertain to the position.
  41. Keep current on knowledge and skills related to the assigned teaching discipline.
  42. Provide academic advising to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
  43. Participates in professional growth activities.
  44. Teaches at varied times based on student demand; day, evening, or weekend; teach traditional classroom, interactive distance learning or web-based delivery.
  45. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution (18 graduate semester or 27 graduate quarter hours in teaching discipline area is required).
  2. Minimum of two (2) years' experience Tennis Coaching is required; college level preferred.
  3. Knowledge of NCAA and NJCAA eligibility and transfer rules required.
  4. Experience in athletic fundraising required.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, is required.
  6. Proficient computer and word processing skills is required.
  7. Excellent organizational and managerial skills is required.
  8. Ability to establish priorities and work independently is required.
  9. Ability to communicate with and motivate student athletes is required.
  10. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening hours and weekends is required.
  11. Ability to travel and drive college vehicles is required.
  12. Ability to project a positive public image and maintain a professional demeanor is required.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.
