Tennessee Traffic Practice Leader

Career Area: Engineering - Civil

What We're Looking For: 

The Tennessee Traffic Practice Leaderreports to Barge's Transportation Practice Leader and provides leadership toone of Barge's Transportation regions. This role is responsible for hiring,developing, and managing technical staff in the region, and partners withProject Managers to assign technical resources to projects. This role is alsoresponsible for ensuring that skills and capabilities match our clients' needsand that project costs are kept within established budgets. The success metricsfor this role are quality delivery, adherence to project budgets, utilization,and employee experience. 
 
Responsibilities: 

  • Provideoversight and leadership of the Traffic discipline for the region 
  • Forecastand develop the discipline's staff mix to align with business sector growthprojections 
  • Developand promote policies and standard procedures to improve project delivery 
  • Workto reduce the discipline's project delivery costs to help drive competitivestatus 
  • Attendclient meetings, manage technical expertise to provide subject matter support 
  • Actas a technical advisor for various projects and programs 
  • Provideinput to proposals and Project Management Plans 
  • Actas a technical lead on portions of larger complex projects 
  • Continueto strengthen relationships with clients, sectors, direct reports, and others 
  • Playactive role in advising and executing strategic and business planningactivities 
  • Promotea great work environment for the region 
  • Embraceour Purpose, Vision, and Values and champion this with direct reports 
  • Performother duties as assigned 

 Education & Experience Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor'sdegree in engineering or related field from accredited program 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration(or ability to obtain within six months
  • Minimum of 10years' relevant experience, preferably encompassing a variety of assignmentsinvolving traffic planning, design and/or operations, such as: 
  • Transportationplanning studies, including evaluation of alternative solutions for corridors,intersections, and/or interchanges 
  • Planning and design of multimodalimprovements, including pedestrian, bicycle, and transit facilities 
  • Publicoutreach in support of planning studies
  • Traffic forecasting 
  • Trafficoperational analysis 
  • Safetystudies 
  • Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE),benefit-cost analysis 
  • Signing/pavement marking design 
  • Traffic signal design 
  • Development and implementation ofcorridor signal timing plans 
  • ITS and communications network design 
  • Strongunderstanding and experience in the use of policies, standards, andspecifications of FHWA, AASHTO, state DOT's and municipalities 
  • Experience/familiarity with traffic engineering and planning software (HCS, Synchro,VISSIM, ArcGIS) 
  • Ability toresearch and learn innovative solutions and best practices in the industry 
  • Excellentcommunication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Strong organizational skills, preferablyincluding experience supervising and developing junior staff 
  • Previous business development experiencepreferred 
  • Business administration and leadershipdevelopment training preferred
