DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand business goals and translate these high-level goals to the day to day activities of the operations team to ensure alignment
  • Ensure a safe work environment focused on continuous improvement and quality while maintaining a high throughput mentality
  • Adhere to 5S philosophies and work collaboratively with Safety to ensure compliance to policies
  • Recruit, lead, and motivate operations team to support the R&D team in time sensitive and demanding environment to meet business goals
  • Support development and growth of the members of the operations team
  • Manage data collection to update metrics, improve processes, and understand process deviations
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and contractors to minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with other technical managers to ensure that the project work is completed correctly and in a timely fashion and according to the technical team's specifications
  • Purchase materials, plan inventory, and oversee warehousing
  • Plan and support capital investments to drive efficiency and quality of the R&D lab
  • Plan and execute processing schedules to maximize productivity
  • Provide visibility to property testing and application experiment queues and strive to minimize backlogs
  • Manage a complex portfolio of projects with competing priorities
  • Approve and manage controlled documents (batch sheets, SOPs, job safety analyses, etc.)

 

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil) or closely related field with 5-10 years of industrial experience
  • Hands on mechanical and chemical engineering skills
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and be self-driven
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Results and customer oriented
  • Strong technical writing experience
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Products
  • Critical thinking and ability to understand downstream impacts of decisions

CONSIDERED A PLUS:

  • Previous management experience
  • Experience with plastics and plastic processing techniques  
  • Previous experience with compliance to management systems (ISO, RCMS, etc.)
  • Experience with SAP, LIMS, and similar systems
  • Familiarity with PLC controlled process equipment
  • Familiarity with PowerBI
  • Experience with CAD software
