Form of workJohn Murray Press, the oldest English language trade publisher in the world with offices in London and Philadelphia, seeks a Philadelphia-based candidate to provide six-month coverage for an associate on maternity leave. This is a rare opportunity for an entry-level professional to get in at the ground floor and gain strong experience at an international publishing operation with global reach.
The sales and Marketing Assistant is a fulltime, hybrid role (two days in-office; three days remote) and will report directly to the vice president of sales and marketing and work with a dynamic team of sales and marketing professionals, providing vital support to our book launches, marketing campaigns, sales reporting, and overall workflow.
Among other tasks, the sales assistant:
- Generates daily sales reports, weekly reports, and provide members of the sales and marketing team with reports and sales data as needed
- Creates title information sheets and aids sales team in creating presentations for sales conferences and meetings
- Oversees the day-to-day elements of the US office's conference program, booking exhibit space, maintaining budgets, and creating book lists
- Assist marketing team in promotions of ecommerce websites and CRM list building
- Submits invoices to our accounts payable system, as well as tracking of all US office invoicing and spending
- Oversees small bookstore accounts and author ordering

The ideal candidate has a two- or four-year college degree (or equivalent experience), is exceptionally organized, and possesses solid written and verbal communication skills.
