Essential Job Duties:The candidate will participate in ongoing projects involving investigations on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying some human pathological conditions. The lab uses a wide range of experimental approaches including cell biology, molecular and biochemical techniques, histology, and fluorescence microscopy with various model systems including cell and tissue cultures to decipher the molecular mechanisms underlying human diseases.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigators, the Temp Technician will support and assist the lab personnel in conducting ongoing projects, particularly those that involve investigations on pathological processes affecting human tissues (e.g. skin, lung, gut, etc.) exposed to environmental stressors including UV radiation, cigarette smoke, ozone, particulate matter and diesel exhaust pollution.
The core functions of this role are to assist in the daily operation of our team. These functions include accurately performing:
- Basic molecular biology techniques such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, quantitative PCR and ELISA assay.
- Histological procedures including human and/or animal tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, maintaining accurate tissue and slide records.
- Computerized data entry of all work performed and generates reports as required.
- Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains accurate and timely records, which may include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by the research project.
- May monitor laboratory and/or other supplies to ensure sufficient inventory to support research projects.
- May maintain clean laboratory equipment and/or work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- To support laboratory functions including but not limited to general housekeeping of allocated workspace, preparing reagents etc
- Ability to understand and follow cleaning schedules; math skills and problem solving skills.
- Execute validation protocols with minimal supervision or direction.
Work Schedule:
M-F, 8:30am to 4:30pm; flexible base on work load and work schedule. Rarely would require some weekend and holiday work. Is Time Limited:
