The City of Glendale Recreation division is currently looking for fun, friendly individuals who enjoy working in a community outdoors/parks environment.
The purpose of this position is to plan, implement, supervise, and coordinate activities for community members in our community parks and neighborhoods, while enforcing safety and City policies and procedures; providing guidance to program participants. As the Temporary Recreation Leader you will be preparing recreation locations, fields and courts for planned activities and events; setting up recreation equipment, audio visual equipment, tables, chairs and/or recreational equipment needed for scheduled activities; providing guidance to participants regarding equipment use and safety; checking equipment for needed repairs and returning equipment to storage upon program completion.
This position is a temporary, 19 hour or less position with a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays! 1. Facilitate day-to-day operations (including set-up and organization) of various Recreation Programs, events and activities.
2. Inventories program supplies regularly and provides information about any items that might be needed.
3. Sets up and takes down equipment for activities and events; supervises and coaches participants as directed.
4. Monitors program participants, enforces rules and regulations, and monitors security of facilities.
5. Interacts with the public in responding to questions and assisting in preparation for programs and events.
6. Performs other related duties as requiredTo qualify you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
Parks and Recreation department policies and regulations
Various types of Recreation Programs (i.e. athletic games, youth and adult activities, gaming, music, and special events).
Ability to:
Interact with citizens in a fun, friendly and courteous manner
Interact effectively and courteously with the public and other employees
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
Special Requirements
- Must have/obtain First Aide/CPR Certification within 30 days of hire
- Must be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Applicants will be required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the City of Glendale Substance Abuse policy
