Temporary Doughnut Hut Supervisor at the Hoonah Corps

Position Title:                       Doughnut Hut Supervisor

Corps/Department:           Salvation Army, Hoonah Corps

Reports To:                           Corps Officer

FLSA Status:                          Temporary Full-time; Non-Exempt

Dates of Employment:      April 10, 2024-October 4, 2024

Scope of Position: The Doughnut Hut Supervisor will be responsible for making doughnuts and selling them to customers. The Supervisor will also ensure the equipment is properly cleaned and maintained, as well as keeping the facility clean. The Supervisor will monitor and guide employees and volunteers to ensure production and distribution standards are maintained. The Supervisor will monitor timecards and breaks. The Supervisor will be responsible for opening and closing Hut, including setting-up and closing of the till.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to politely and professionally interact with co-workers and the public.
• Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain attention to detail.
• Cash register, check guard, and credit card machine experience preferred.
• Alaska Food Worker Card required or obtained within 30 days after employment.
• Current Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving and criminal history reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE but are not limited to:

• Operate cash register and credit card machines.
• Greet and assist customers in purchasing refreshments.
• Assist with the entire doughnut making process (mixing, pouring, frying, topping, bagging, etc.)
• Assist in keeping the facility and equipment clean and in good working order in order to maintain a safe and pleasant working environment.
• Calculate daily deposit, sales reports, and bank cash receipts as directed, safe-guarding cash at all times.
• Maintain healthy work environment between employees and volunteers.
• Accurately report any problems to Corps Officer.
• Open and close Hut as assigned.
• Monitor timecards and breaks for accuracy and submit to the Corps Officer for processing.
• Keep track of inventory and report stocking needs to Corps officer as needed.
• Ability to assemble and disassemble Doughnut Machine as needed for general operations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Language Skills:  Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions.  The employee must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation.

Mathematical Skills:  Must be able to perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical situations.

Performance Skills:  Must be creative, self-motivated, organized, flexible, and possess leadership skills. 

Protect the Mission: Pass the Background Check required by The Salvation Army for employment.

Physical Requirements:  Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to understand written information. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
