Temporary- Digital Imaging Technician, Photography (71104)
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Interim Technical Director and with moderate latitude for independent judgment, oversees and operates the Digital Printing and Imaging Studios.
Position Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of equipment (i.e. electronic strobe equipment, cameras, printers, copiers and digital photographic, video and audio equipment).
  • Maintain and repair equipment including digital photography equipment, computers, scanners, printers and related software.
  • Inventory and maintain digital equipment supervise regular maintenance of leased hardware.
  • Assist faculty with technical demonstrations and preparation of course materials.
  • Assist students with use of the facilities providing assistance to daily classes taking place in the ndepartment, including technical demos, classroom A/V needs, and instructors' equipment.
  • Fulfill requests for technical instruction with students and faculty; this includes pieces of equipment and processes that are new additions to the curriculum.
  • Assist with the general maintenance of the photography facilities and other department areas including classrooms, black white darkrooms, lighting studio and exhibition spaces.
  • On an as needed basis, assist in photography tech office (equipment center) with the reservation/checkout of equipment to students and faculty, aid in management of techoffice@pratt.edu email.
  • Schedule, train and supervise work-study students including the instruction and meetings for install/deinstall of thesis and open call exhibitions
  • Aid in maintenance of virtual tech office website, as well as web based application for lab appointments and reservation of equipment.
  • Work with other Photography Technical Staff and Administrative Staff to continue to create a welcoming community to students and faculty.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Schedule: 12pm-8pm Tuesday-Thursday, Friday 9-5, Saturday 10-6
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Four years of college or equivalent are required a B.F.A. / B.A. is preferred.

Experience:
  • At least 1-2 years experience as a digital graphics or photography technician, as well as a thorough knowledge of Macintosh hardware, operating system and graphics application software required.

Skills:
  • Photographic darkroom chemistry skills such as black and white & non silver processes
  • Proficiency with Apple Computers and Mac Operating SystemOS, Adobe Creative Cloud(Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier InDesign), Capture One, i1profiler and familiarity with digital printing is required.

Other:
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills required. Must have a commitment to students and their educational needs.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • A willingness and aptitude for learning and instructing on specialized equipment is beneficial.

SALARY is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is $30-35/hour. The position will be onsite 5 days/wk. Some benefits are included.
This is a Local 153 Grade 103 Union Position.
