What You’ll Do:
  • Excellence in Service: We are dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our residents. As a Cook, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents through the meals you prepare.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the Head Chef to create menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. Consider special dietary requirements, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modifies diets.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP principles. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring all equipment is in perfect working condition.
  • Teamwork: We are a family and we work together as one cohesive team. Collaboration and communication among staff members are essential to creating a harmonious and supportive work environment.

 

What You Bring:
  • Certifications and Education: Having a high school diploma or something equivalent is required. If you’ve been to culinary school or have relevant certification, even better! And don’t forget your ServSafe or equivalent food safety certifications.
  • Culinary Expertise: Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a Senior Living facility, healthcare setting, or a similar environment. Strong culinary skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing menus, resident preferences, and special dietary needs.
  • Team Player: We’ve a close-knit crew here, so being a team player is key! You’ll be working with other kitchen staff and servers, so good communication and cooperation are essential.

Working Conditions: As a Cook at Dominion Senior Living, your place is in the busy kitchen environment, which often involves standing for extended period of time, preparing meals for residents with diverse dietary needs, and maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards while maintaining a friendly and respectful atmosphere.

Physical Demands: As a Cook at Dominion Senior Living, you can expect the role to be physically demanding. You’ll be on your feet for most of your shift, often standing at workstations while prepping, cooking, and plating meals. This requires a fair amount of stamina and endurance, as your shift may span several hours. In the kitchen, you’ll frequently handle heavy pots, pans, and trays, while may contain large quantities of food. Lifting, carrying, and maneuvering these items will be part of your daily routine. Overall, be capable of handling the rigors of a fast-paced kitchen while ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our residents.
