Job description

Ewald & Wasserman Research (E&W) is a women-owned, small business based in San Francisco focused
on social science research studies. E&W provides research design, data collection and statistical analysis
for a broad range of clients in the social science and behavioral research field. Some examples of the
type of research that we collect data for: traffic safety, tobacco prevention, education, and evaluation of
health care programs.
Ewald & Wasserman Research Consultants are looking for part-time, on call Telephone & Field interviewers to assist in data collection for upcoming research projects in San Francisco.
Candidates applying should have a keen eye for detail, be very reliable, follow directions carefully, and
work very well independently or in a small team. This is a great opportunity to learn about data
collection and research practices. It is ideal for candidates with flexible schedules who live in San Francisco close to Cable Car lines and/or the F Market Line.
We have a project coming up that requires riding 4 historic MUNI car lines and counting passengers as they get on and off at each stop along the line using a paper survey form on a clipboard. We have another project coming up that requires conducting a brief survey with people along parts of Geary Blvd. A paid training will be provided on the protocols before every study.
We also are conducting a very interesting statewide community study that involves doing brief phone interviews with participants. You would be trained on our phone system and following a script. You would initially work in our downtown SF office. Phone assignments will be 4 hour shifts working from our office.
The hours will be flexible. Field assignments will be anytime between 6AM and 10PM and on weekdays
and weekends. The work shifts would be about 2-6 hours per day and hours would range from 3-15 hours per
week depending on assignments and availability. Clipper cards as well as SFMTA safety vests and
clipboards will be provided.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Arrive at assigned locations on time and prepared with materials
  • Communicate with project partner and E&W team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, on phone and in person
  • Keep track of hours worked/submit time sheet bi-weekly
  • Be invested in high quality data collection
  • Communicate with E&W Supervisor and Project Manager
  • Be professional, friendly and totally dedicated to the task at hand
  • Perform special assignments on request, including data entry of paper forms
  • Work from the E&W office in downtown San Francisco upon request

Qualifications
  • Extremely well organized and reliable
  • Courteous and respectful manner with study participants/protocols
  • Background in social science, psychology, sociology or education
  • Solution-oriented troubleshooter who can adapt to unforeseen project challenges
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability and with a small team
  • Extremely detail-oriented nature with the ability to work effectively on multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to follow directions and perform basic logic checks
  • Flexible schedule/ability to work weekends as needed
  • Undergo a basic background screening
  • Complete an on-line Harassment Training class after 30 days of employment
  • Vaccinated for COVID 19
