Job Description
Telecommunications Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining cable and equipment outside the central office for a service provider. At 702 Communications this primarily means installing premise and customer equipment in a scheduled window of time to an expected degree of neatness and accuracy. This position will be part of an on-call rotation.
702 Communications OSP technicians are assigned a company truck and provided the necessary tools to do the job. We offer competitive pay, full benefits and 401k with a percentage match for retirement.
The Facilities Technician position involves the termination and maintenance of every kind of communications service we provide: POTS, DSL, DS(1), Wired and Wireless Ethernet, Satellite Television service and modular fiber optic work. (No splicing.) The qualified candidate must have first-hand knowledge of both POTS and Ethernet wiring standards, as well as at least a cursory knowledge of the 802.11b/g/n/ac protocols from the IEEE. (WiFi) The qualified candidate must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based PC and should be familiar with MAC OSX networking features.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide installation and maintenance service of legacy communications circuitry based on 702 Communications-owned plant as well as CLEC leased plant
- Provide installation and maintenance service of wired Ethernet circuitry
- Provide installation and maintenance service of cabled television circuitry based on 702 Communications-owned facility
- Support the 702 Service and Support staff by installing, troubleshooting and repairing wireless Ethernet connections for the 702 Communications Wireless customer base
- Participate in the creation of new or modified copper circuits via splicing or re-terminating 702 Communications-owned copper circuitry in coordination with dispatch and/or management
- Participate in the after-hours pager rotation, revolving weekly starting Tuesdays at 8:00 AM.
- Complete and submit accurate paperwork to dispatch and the customer base
- Maintain vehicles, inventory and inventory records in accordance with company policy
- Provide a professional demeanor to the customer base
- Inform management of any problems or suggestions encountered in daily duties
Prerequisites are:
*knowledge of color-coded low-voltage cabling
*basic knowledge of fiber optic cabling
*basic knowledge of Ethernet networking
*a great attitude and deside to grow and succeed
