Job Summary
The Telecommunications Specialist is responsible for 9-1-1 calls and dispatching appropriate Emergency Service agencies. Monitors incoming communications and dispatches Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies. The incumbent reports to Communications Coordinator. The Sheriff’s Department works with ten agencies and provides communication services for 28 departments. The position is governed by department policies and procedures, 9-1-1 procedures, and rules governing law enforcement personnel.
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to obtain ACIC Level I & II Certification within a year.
- Up to six months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to type 35-40 wpm, multi-task, and work well under stress.
- Must be able to work well with others and have excellent communication skills.
- Mental alertness and adaptability to office area work routines and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions.
Job Type: Full-time
