The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking qualified individuals for Telecommunications Service Representative. An ideal candidate would be a detail-oriented individual with a solid understanding of telecommunications systems and services who thrives on providing exceptional customer service. Under general supervision, provides first-level technical support and assistance related to Telecommunications Services; coordinates the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and service termination of direct Telecommunications Services to LACOE sites and divisions.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
- Principles, practices, terminology, and trends of VOIP and Telecommunications services
- Basic functionalities of current telephone features, analog and digital circuits
- Telecommunications hardware and its applications
- Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other related applications Record-keeping practices and procedures
- Decision Making – Choosing optimal courses of action in a timely manner
- Fact Finding – Obtaining facts and data pertaining to an issue or question
- Attention to Detail – Focusing on the details of work content, work steps, and final work products
- Learning Agility – Seeking learning opportunities and applying the lessons to one's work

Experience: Two years of Telecommunications Services experience, including experience providing basic technical support, and coordinating installations, repairs, and termination of services with various telecommunications vendors.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain private transportation between job sites may be required.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available.
Selection Process Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a multiple-choice examination, performance exam, and structured interview.

Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Eligibility lasts for 12 months; however, additional recruitment may occur under a separate bulletin with additional candidates being merged onto the eligibility list. Some positions that involve public contact may require bilingual proficiency for which selective certification may apply (Education Code 45277.5). In addition, the eligibility list resulting from this examination may be used to fill vacancies in related job classifications for which no eligibility list exists (Education Code 45272). Veterans' Credit may be awarded for entry jobs.
