Summary

This individual will be part of the Customer Facing IT (CFIT) team, dedicated to WWRD, responsible for partnering with the business to drive technology direction through deep understanding of business requirements and desired business outcomes. Leads the planning and implementation of technology strategy, in alignment with BioMarin company, WWRD Goals and IT Standards. In collaboration with IT; Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Strategic Platforms and WWRD Customer Facing IT Solution Delivery teams. This role will be instrumental in facilitating the development of value realization problem/opportunity statements to articulate the business need, value proposition, the baseline/current state and how success will be measured. CFIT will be responsible for understanding current and future technology needs and to translate these needs into the functional roadmaps to support sustainable growth, application rationalization, optimize the use of existing technologies/strategic platforms to create operational efficiency and provide an extraordinary customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between the business and IT
  • Partner with the business to solve business challenges with technology that is aligned with IT strategy and standards
  • Understand and document business requirements, business drivers and build technology strategies and solutions that provide business value
  • Maintain technology roadmaps, by partnering with the business to understand business capabilities in place today, and identify capabilities required for the future
  • Partner and collaborate with key IT teams to support cross business unit initiatives and explore IT synergies and efficiencies
  • Facilitate the technology selection process, analyze the technology landscape, develop high level business requirements, scope & dependencies for project candidate development
  • Partner with the business to develop the business case/justification - value proposition that support Company & Functional Business Unit Objectives & Key results
  • Complete the project candidate in our PPM tool, and support the value realization baseline development to identify measurable objectives for project justification
  • Support the SDLC processes to ensure the successful delivery of projects (e.g., support any business or vendor escalations)
  • After implementation, complete the Value Realization "actual" review to ensure the value the business set out to achieve has been obtained. Document and provide the outcome to leadership. If results were not achieved, create an action plan to obtain the desired results.
  • Collaborate with the CFIT Solution Delivery team, PMO PM's to support and remove obstacles for approved projects

Skill Profile

  • Strong leadership skills in project definition, business analysis and delivery
  • Excellent communication and team building skills with an ability to balance, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to build strategic partnerships.
  • Experience with applications that are used in Research and Development within the Pharmaceutical/BioTech industry.
  • Experience supporting Bioinformatics, statistical analysis, genomics software, like DNAnexus, HPC, SDTM, SAS.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tooling.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and cloud storage such as AWS and Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Experience with R, Python, and Linux a plus.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage and deliver on multiple competing priorities.
  • Competent at documenting and formalizing business processes.
  • Demonstrated skills in resource organization, project/task prioritization and
    schedule development.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Understanding of drug development processes.
  • Understanding of computer system validation practices and principles
  • Experience working in regulated environments, ie., US FDA, EMA, Japan, Health Canada, etc...
  • Strong Presentation Skills
  • Strong Collaboration / Team Building Skills
  • Expertise in MS Project, MS Office, and Visio

Education & Experience

  • 10 years overall professional job experience.
  • 5 years project management and business analysis experience in Regulated/Life Sciences/Pharma industry.
  • 5 years professional experience with software or technology used on the job, including business application and / or platform implementation.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Technology, or related field
  • Certification in Project Management preferred
