BioMADE is looking for a Techno-Economic Research Assistant to carry out analyses of current and emerging bioprocesses. As novel biomanufacturing technologies emerge, analysis of the incorporation and implementation of different strategies becomes imperative to ensure technical viability and maximize economic profitability while ensuring safety and sustainability.
The candidate will research, design and simulate bioprocessing facilities to increase their production scale or improve their manufacturing process. This position will aid in the preparation of technical feasibility reports through the study and analysis of design documentation and specifications, mass and energy balance calculations using engineering design software, as well as the associated safety and hazards evaluations with high quality standards. This role will aid in the preparation and analysis of business proposals including market demand, internal rate of return, and net present value. The incumbent will aid in the evaluation of profitability of the proposed business life cycle by analyzing future earnings and market changes, and will use business analytics to continuously develop and refine modeling programs to assess the economic impact of novel products.
This position will collaborate closely with a team of skilled scientists and engineers to identify opportunities for enhancement and improvement of emerging and established processes, as well as to identify the gaps and deficiencies of processes as they aim to scale up in production capacity. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a passion for process design, analysis, and improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and simulate manufacturing processes and products with multiple criteria in mind, including cost-effectiveness, technical feasibility, market demand and regulatory standards.
- Support the evaluation of technical feasibility and economic profitability of various bio-manufacturing processes at different scale-up stages.
- Research alternative production methods and stay up-to-date with new technology that could be incorporated into existing and/or new production lines.
- Contribute to cross-functional teams to solve technical problems.
- Write technical documentation to effectively communicate the research and analysis of the process design.
- Assist and contribute to the development of analytical frameworks towards efficient and accessible analysis.
- Understand and articulate the impact of new technology implementation to business profitability.
- Use business insight and analytics to develop and refine modeling programs to assess the economic supply and demand, and estimate the profitability of emerging biomanufacturing processes.
Other duties may include
- Assist in the evaluation of requirements and provide guidance to various existing and novel bioprocesses.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to reduce waste inefficiencies and increase profitability of the manufacturing processes.
- Contribute and assist on in-depth analysis of tangible and intangible factors affecting the safety, security and sustainability of various bioprocesses through established and evolving methodology.
- Generate business strategy to optimize profitability through cash flow management accounting for varying earnings, interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization.
