Summary/Purpose
Operates manufacturing equipment and participates in the assembly of components to produce high quality finished goods that meet or exceed our customer’s specification. Supports re-pack lineside as well as quality inspection of re-pack parts. Maintains equipment PM’s; keeps production line running and fixes short stops; and performs quality checks using calipers, height gages and other digital gages.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

- Must be able to comprehend English and follow direction from JTEKT team leader, supervisor and/or manager.
- Must perform all instructions as listed in the Job Element.
- Follow standard work as described in the Job Elements for each operation and produce quality parts.
- Must produce standard quantities upon completion of training.
- Inspect all safety equipment prior to production start-up (E-Stops, safety lights, PPE).
- Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
- Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Perform minor preventative machine maintenance such as oiling machines and do all necessary cleaning on equipment and work area.
- Follow the non-conforming material procedure when it is found and notify the team leader.
- Project a positive outlook in conversation and conduct.
- Able to work in a fast paced team environment without direct supervision.
- May perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Communication Skills – ability to read or listen & comprehend and write & present information in English.
- Mathematical Skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Reasoning Ability – ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must complete a blueprint workbook, where required.
- Successful completion of the JTEKT Technician B Certification Program is required.
- Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.

- The employee works an 8 or 10 hour shift and overtime is required, as needed. Overtime may be required with very short notice. The employee is required to stand a minimum of 7.25 hours per shift; walk a minimum of 7.25 hours per shift; push a minimum of 7.25 hours per shift; pull a minimum of 7.25 hours per shift; reach above, below and at shoulder level a minimum of 7.25 hours each per shift; move repetitively to left and right; talk and hear. The employee must lift 10 lbs. to 20 lbs. a minimum of 925 times per shift, 20 lbs. to 30 lbs. a minimum of 925 times per shift and up to 40 lbs. occasionally. Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
