Technician, Lead Molding

Position Summary:
Perform duties to set up, changeover and maintain molds.
In this position you will use your experience to:

• Review production run with previous shift to determine unusual conditions, equipment functioning and production levels.
• Monitor molding equipment and robotics to ensure quality standards met and production cycle time maintained.
• Troubleshoot production or quality problems such as excess flash, discoloration or short fills, make necessary adjustments to materials or equipment settings and notify Team Leader of situation.
• Perform changeovers and set ups: change die, set programming to control robotics and set speeds.
• Clean molds as needed.
• Communicate with machine and mold maintenance departments daily to keep repairs and preventive maintenance up-to-date.
• Fill out maintenance work orders to initiate necessary repairs.
• Complete required production and inspection reports.
• Transition the production floor between incoming and outgoing shifts.
• Involves reviewing production and quality issues and concerns relevant to their shift with other shifts.
• Assign regular and temporary employees to their corresponding work centers (rotations).
• Start- up of the shift.
• Involves short communications such as job assignments, production issues, quality issues, company news, etc.
• Coordinate the operators' production team for the shift.
• Communicate production, safety or personnel issues to the area's Assistant Manager or Manager.
• Training regular and temporary operators.
• Reporting production numbers.
• Participate in CIT teams as assigned per Assistant Manager or Manager.
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Use mathematics together with the analytical use of computerized programming. Equivalent to 1 to 2 years applied trades training on a particular or specialized occupation, requiring knowledge of injection molding.
• 2 to 3 years of mold technician experience is required.
• Experience with the hand tools is required.
• Proper set up of automated equipment programming.
• Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
• Communication skills: Written and Oral
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
• Attention to Detail
• Listening
• Ability to make sound judgment decisions
• Diversified work. Perform duties to set up, changeover and maintain the injection molding operations. Exercise judgment to troubleshoot production and quality problems, within the limitations of standard methods and procedures.
