The Technician in Training position will be trained to achieve Operator Qualifications (OQs) in order to take on formal" Technician I" responsibilities for customer service field activities and distribution systems and facilities. Training period is paid, and training program is typically 6 - 12 month to achieve qualifications to be promoted to Technician I. The speed in which these qualifications are met are dependent on current skillset and learning curve.
- Accountabilities
- Performs reads of residenti al, commercial and industrial gas meters. Records readings for billing purposes. Observes and reports all abnormal, dangerous and/or damaged conditi ons pertaining to gas meters andadjacent areas.
- Disconnects, Paint Meters, Service and Constructi on Helper, Atmospheric Corrosion Survey & remedial acti on
- Change Index and meter glass, Complete electronic orders & Damage Preventi on locates
- Installing, Maintain, Replacing and Remove meters and regulators
- Residenti al and small commercial service acti vati on
- Replacing service valves, Minor appliance repair and adjustments
- Complete all operator qualifi cati on and safety related training
- High school Diploma / GED
- Prior uti lity, constructi on, or other maintenance experience such as HVAC or E/M system experience a plus
- Requires valid driver’s license in accordance with Company standards
- During employment training period, must obtain and maintain minimum Operator Qualifi cati ons (OQs) andclassroom training for positi on and any other required OQs and classroom training or certi fi cati ons prior tobeing placed in this positi on on a permanent basis
