Overview:
We are seeking a experienced technician to help implement advances in Manufacturing science and technology associated with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Department of Energy (DOE) mission. Selection will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, skills, and education. This position resides in the Manufacturing Automation and Controls Group in the Manufacturing Sciences Division of the Energy Science and Technology Directorate at ORNL.
In this position, you will be a part of teams working toward achieving both the overall mission of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and those goals specific to the Manufacturing Science Division through advanced research in Automation and Controls. You will be a part of the team implementing advances in flexible industrial automation, machine learning, sensor processing, machine vision, and/or human machine interaction.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with research staff to implement advances in Automation and Controls algorithms
- Complete experimental

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or higher
- Experience with industrial Automation and/or industrial robot arms
- Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with manufacturing processes and/or manufacturing-related automation
- Experience using ROS for robot control
- Experince with programming and operating CNC machine tools
