Technical Writer Intern

We have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate Technical Writer Intern to join our Business Operations team in Torrey Pines, California!
This position is available for undergraduate students to participate in supervised practical training in a professional field, such as Business Administration, Legal, Accounting/Finance, Economics, Communications, etc. Assists in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks; assists in the analysis, investigation and solution of problems; and assists in developing electronic and hard copy documentation as required. Under general supervision, working on routine projects with general instruction and non-routine projects with detailed instructions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support Business Operations through active participation in Command Media documents (policy, procedure) projects and daily Communications activities.
• Gather information through research, interviews, source documents, and existing documentation to make document updates.
• Support the writing of various types of documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), manuals, forms, templates, and reference guides.
• Update, edit, and improve documents in compliance with Business Operations’ standards regarding language, writing style, structure, and format.
• Support content management for electronic copy publication.
• Organize, publish, and maintain documents in SharePoint (or similar document management systems).
• Participate in Business Operations teams to facilitate or support projects and their completion.
• Participates in the day to day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks.
• Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve problems.
• Assists in developing electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams and charts.
• Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
• Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:

• Typically requires enrollment as an undergraduate student at a recognized college or university.
• Ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately.
• Ability to follow general and detailed instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
• Basic communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective interface with internal professionals.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills.

This position pays at an hourly rate of $22.00 per hour.
