Position Summary

The Technical Writer is responsible for authoring, editing, revision control and publishing of Technical Publications and Aircraft Manuals for all Hawaiian Airlines’ fleets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accomplish the reconciliation of aircraft manuals: incorporate updates from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) scheduled revisions of publications with internal Airline Revisions to stay current on latest aircraft configuration changes. Includes documents such as Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Wiring Diagram Manuals (WDM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Fault Isolation Manual (FIM), System Schematic Manual (SSM), etc.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all authoring and editing work performed.
  • Maintain strict revision control of documentation and publishing
  • Coordinate with Engineering and SMEs to ensure that all Airline Revisions are accurate and follow the industry standards for aviation manuals. Ensuring the appropriate safety, cautions, tooling, and references are called out in proper documentation procedures and sections. Ensuring clarity, completeness, grammar and consistency between documents
  • Continuous improvement of departmental standard operating procedures (SOP) and user guides (UG). Ensuring Airline Document, Reconciliation, and Airline Revision processes are robust and updated
  • Facilitate documentation changes to comply with Airworthiness requirements, incorporating aircraft configuration procedures and parts information into AMMs, IPCs, WDMs, etc.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Library functionality within Boeing Toolbox.
  • Ensures a schedule of regular revision publication and notification to help M&E organization stay current on latest aircraft publications changes
  • Perform additional duties as required by the Manager – Maintenance & Engineering Policies and Procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s’ degree or a combination of education and relevant aviation experience
  • 2-3 years of related work experience
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects to balance work within the group, ensuring important technical updates are provided to maintenance documentation in an expeditious manner
  • Must possess organizational and prioritization skills, a demonstrated ability of acting as an effective change agent, as well as good oral and written communications and interpersonal skills
  • Possesses a contagious, positive attitude – creatively finds a way to get things accomplished without compromising on safety and efficiency. Takes a proactive approach in finding a better way of doing things. Cultivates a continuous improving culture within his/her team
  • Must be able to travel occasionally, work flexible hours and work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays and non-traditional hours if needed
  • Able to possess an AOA badge
  • This position is considered as an essential worker, required to work on-site to support Tech Ops and available for field assignments as required

Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $78,000 - $111,000.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of aviation experience with FAR 121 and/or Part 145, or military equivalent, in the field of aircraft Technical Publications, Maintenance, Engineering, or Quality Assurance
  • Aircraft Maintenance Manual editing, authoring and publishing experience required.
  • Experience with My Boeing Fleet – Toolbox
  • Experience with XML editing
