Summary

Incumbents apply in-depth knowledge in the EV Charger area of specialization. Work is performed within established professional standards and practices. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors and a considerable degree of judgment. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the division's/department's operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Works under minimum Supervision. Seeks approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and possible solutions. Unusual problems are solved jointly with manager. Work is reviewed for application of sound technical judgment. May lead a work group or project team consisting of technical and support staff. Builds internal and external relationships, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers and internal service.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

+ Teaching electricians and technicians on installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of AC and DC electric vehicle chargers. This includes safety training, plus detailed troubleshooting of both power electronics and networking/communication systems.

+ Organizes and oversees the on-the-job process training program which includes developing the trainer certification procedures, process training methodology, a policy to govern the program, a continuous improvement plan, and tools to enable trainer/training supervision.

+ Trainer role includes both classroom and on-the-job components.

+ Develops the "train-the-trainer" class and teaches critical pieces of it, develops trainer certification process and evaluation tools, coordinates operator training with certification administrator, audits process training, facilitates OJT policy making, and communicates OJT policies.

+ Consults with operators, trainers, engineers, managers to identify and address technical and process performance deficiencies.

+ Investigates process/performance problems.

+ Helps define performance requirements, formulates recommendations, designs the learning component of solution, initiates appropriate actions, and evaluates results.

+ Creates or promotes opportunities for Celestica operators with area educational institutions (e.g. community colleges, technical training institutes).

+ Forms and maintains partnerships with area community colleges and technical training institutes and collaborates on creating/adapting curriculum.

+ The trainer will collaborate with customers to develop training classes.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

+ In-depth knowledge of technologies, including: electrical wiring standards, troubleshooting of; high/low voltage circuits, communications protocols, EV chargers, and associated modification and repair techniques.

+ Licensed Electrician with EVITP certification

+ Very strong presentation, teaching and coaching skills.

+ In-depth knowledge and understanding of documentation processes & quality systems.

+ Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

+ Proficient in computerized training software for course development and delivery.

+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in one-to-one and group situations.

Physical Demands

+ Duties of this position are performed in remote classrooms, training labs, and in the field (at EV Charger sites). This position may be based out of a Celestica facility or a remote work position.

+ Duties will require domestic travel up of 20-50%, with occasional international travel to Canada and Europe.

+ Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

+ Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

+ Above demands are carried out within the local existing Health and Safety guidelines

Typical Experience

+ Five to Eight years of relevant experience

Typical Education

+ 5+ years as licensed electrician with EVITP certification

+ 2+year degree in electronics or related field, with 5-years of troubleshooting experience

+ Experienced trainer of other electricians

+ Willingness to travel up to 50% including international travel to Canada and the EU.

+ Educational requirements may vary by geography

Salary Range: $69k-$103k Annually
