The Technical Theater teacher will be responsible for teaching Upper School technical theater courses and serving as the technical director for productions, and assisting with events in the Black Box and Auditorium.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach one section of Upper School technical theater course
- Teach one or two sections of a Middle or Upper school drama class
- Ability to create an inclusive classroom that nurtures a sense of belonging
- Direct at least one after school production per year
- Support drama classes with technical assistance, coverage, and team teaching
- Assist in running assemblies, lectures, performances, and events in the Auditorium and Black Box
- Scenic, lighting, sound design, and construction for up to 6 Middle and Upper school productions per year
- Serve as department liaison to external set design shops when needed
- Potentially serve as a faculty advisor to upper or middle school students
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Theater Design and Technology or a related field
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience with middle and high school aged students
- Familiarity with the mission, goals, and objectives of an independent school environment
Specific Knowledge of:
- Lighting: ETC Eos Family Consoles (Gio, Gio@5), ETC Paradigm Control System, Modern lighting networking (ETC Net3), Use/Maintenance of LED and automated lighting fixtures
- Sound: Yamaha CL Series Consoles (CL5, CL1), Modern audio networking / Dante, QLab 4
- Misc: Crestron Control Systems, Mac/Windows cross platform fluency, Vectorworks/AutoCAD/Sketchup
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices and procedures.
- Current knowledge of technical theater trends and innovations
