Avery Dennison is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support the customers of our Digital Ink Solutions business. In this role, you will be responsible for sales account management and technical ownership while serving as the technical interface between the customer and our company engineering, manufacturing and program management representatives. You will provide remote and on-site field Technical Sales support, such as end-user problem solving, systems integration, complaint investigation, root cause analysis, support of new product development, and product trials. In this role, you will apply and promote an understanding of product design-performance interrelationships, including the chemistry, engineering and physics of formulated inks. As this role interacts heavily with customers, technology and product development, your responsibilities will adapt and grow as our company does. This role will require up to 15-20% travel to start.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for growing revenue by achieving sales objectives with targeted accounts by building strong, multi-level relationships
- Research and carry out formulation and testing to supply information or samples to address customer inquiries or issues.
- Ability to build new business opportunities with assigned accounts, new customers and application platforms.
- Actively identify new accounts and business opportunities using screening techniques, referrals, and good prospecting practices
- Use account leadership skills to plan and implement customer growth programs.
- Maintain customer profiles, commercial agreements and follow business processes such as stage gate, claims management, etc.. Implement pricing programs and strategies.
- Work closely with R&D team members, operations, quality, supply chain and with customers to evaluate new and modified ink formulations and raw materials,
- Participate in hands-on bench-top testing and direct technician testing of ink-jet inks.
- Engage with customers on timely resolution of formal complaints and problems by identifying short-term root cause and corrective actions.
- Liaison with Operations on customer technical issues and needs, identifying product and process improvements.
- Translate CTQs for new platform and product application development projects. Technical Administrative & Engineering Support
- Follow all corporate safety policies and procedures. Practice good housekeeping and proper safety procedures in accordance to company standards
Minimum requirements
- B.S. required, M.S. preferred in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 1+ years of experience in inks design and development
- Experience with crafting ink for ink-jet applications - eco-solvent, solvent, water-based, or UV.
- 1+ years experience in B2B sales or related field preferred
- Ownership for customer base and all related activities, and a driven focus on responsiveness to customer needs..
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Basic knowledge of pigment and/or dye formulations used in the design of digital inks.
- Some experience with additives, particularly dyes/pigments and functional additives.
