Description:
The Biological and Environmental Research Information System (BERIS) team at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a motivated recent graduate for a 1-year, full-time, paid internship to support their work in communicating cutting-edge research strategies and results emanating from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science programs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable professional experience. The specialist will be a full-time employee of the University of Tennessee and the position will be grant funded.

What You'll Be Doing:
- Managing scientific highlights for several DOE programs to include,
- Using WordPress to collect, manage, and publish highlights
- Preparing weekly highlights summary and status updates
- Working with various stakeholders
- Data Research & Analysis of annual bibliographies and bibliometrics for several DOE programs to include,
- Performing complex and specialized searches for materials using research methods and tools such as online databases, web-based resources, and other reference sources (e.g., EndNote, Scopus, Web of Science, and SciVal).
- Creating and maintaining cohesive records from various sources.
- Supporting report production and team workflows around other content creation to include,
- Editing to improve content structure and flow as well as ensure stylistic and brand consistency.
- Providing quality assurance by checking facts and reviewing proofs.
- Obtaining permissions and high-resolution versions of copyrighted images.
- Participating in professional development activities that contribute to the employee’s professional growth and development associated with job responsibilities and related career goals.
What You Will Need:
- Must have bachelor’s degree in communications, Information Sciences, or a related area (master’s degree in communications, Information Sciences, or a related area preferred)
- Motivation to advance a career in information services and technical communications.
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Ability to work in an efficient organized manner and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Skill in industry-standard software (experience with Adobe Creative suite preferred)
- The exceptional candidate has knowledge of analytics and/or research methods through work experience or coursework
