Technical Copywriter

Design & Technical Solutions (DTS), a division of Volt Information Sciences and Innova Solutions, is hiring a Technical Instructions Author/Copywriter to work in a hybrid position. Candidates must be able to work onsite 3 days per week at the facility located in Dubuque, IA
As a Technical Instructions Author/ Copywriter, you will:

• Create and update installation instructions utilized by dealership mechanics for optional equipment on construction and forestry machines.
• Interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics, electrical schematics, parts lists, and 3D modeling in order to create functional installation instructions.
• Conduct basic research to gain necessary information.
• Enter data into multiple systems in accordance with specifications and requirements.
• Ensure authored publications meet approved standards and guidelines.
• Modify authored publications if corrections are needed.
• Publish and transmit documents to translation and/or print as required.
• Acquire the skills and knowledge needed to advance to a Technical Author Copywriter II role.

This is a full-time, contingent opportunity.
Requirements:

• Individuals must have a HS diploma or GED; an Associate’s degree or technical certification is highly preferred.
• Candidates must have good communication skills both verbally and written.
• Candidate does not need to have a technical understanding but must be open to learning.
• Ability to problem solve and find solutions to technical problems with minimal information.
• Computer proficiency, especially the ability to master unfamiliar applications.

Desired experience with any of the following a plus:

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, XML desktop publishing software, or 3D modeling software.
• Understanding of hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, and/or engine systems
• Mechanical aptitude
• Certificate or 2 year degree in one of the following fields: Automotive or truck technology; Graphic communications or digital media; Communications or journalism.

Pay Rate: Between $18.00 to $26.00 per hour. *Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
