The Technical Architect Intern assists higher level IT architects in the design, creation, and testing of technology solutions, which may involve hardware, software, networking, and data components and may perform and enhance routine technical and business operational procedures. This is an entry level position in the IT architecture job family, designed for students or recent graduates who lack applicable paid experience and may be a summer internship or a parttime internship concurrent with college or university enrollment.
- Under the guidance of higher-level IT architects, performs a variety of software development and system administration task (70%)
- Using well established software development principles, assist in the design software using modern object-oriented languages and web services platforms.
- Assists in the performance software testing and validation.
- Assists in the administration of application platforms on servers prior to transition to production operations.
- Assists in system troubleshooting.
- Answers basic system questions for end-users.
- Under the guidance of higher-level IT architects, works with business users to gather requirements and to create mock-up designs (25%)
- Assists in the creation of project documentation.
- Assists in the creation of implementation plans.
- Stays current with applicable technologies and performs other duties as required (5%)
Current enrollment with a minimum of two years study at an accredited degree-granting program, with a major in computer science, technology, engineering, mathematics, statistics, science or business.
One or two years (full time or parttime) of paid IT or similar experience in any combination of the following areas:
1. Computer programming
2. Software development
3. Software engineering
4. Desktop support
5. Technical service desk support
6. Systems administration
7. Database administration
8. Cybersecurity support
9. Business or systems analysis
10. Web design
11. Data analysis
12. Project management
- The candidate must be willing to learn various technologies without bias.
