Job Description
Lead, train, and motivate fellow employees to meet and exceed customer expectations while following all safety, quality, and environmental practices and manage daily departmental operations
Skills
- All position MIG welding
- Be able to read blueprint and understand weld symbols
- Must be able to use various measuring devices
- Fabricate, assemble, or disassemble manufactured products by hand
- Use of grinders, sanders, drills, and basic hand tools to file, sand, grind, or polish metal
- Have the ability to weld MIG on stainless, galanized and mild steel
- Ability to use a PC
- Ability to read, understand and identify blueprints and materials needed for each job
- Meet quality expectations by examining products or work to verify conformance to specifications and having attention to detail
- Must be able to work scheduled overtime hours
- Understand and follow work instructions as applicable
- Comply with standard work practices and SOPs
- Segregate nonconforming or suspected nonconforming material real time and notify supervisor
- Maintain welding machines or equipment; keep area organized and clean
- Complies with all EHS and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies and procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment toward a common goal
- Provide leadership to maintain employee focus on safety, quality, delivery and costs
- Have previous experience with forklift operation, crane use and with metal forming machinery
- Ability to recognize and correct unsafe work conditions, situations, behaviors, potential safety concerns
- Train employees on procedures, methods, problem solving, prints, equipment, quality requirements, team methods and maintain training proficiency level reporting
- Represent department in meetings, such as: production, safety, department report outs, etc.
- Conduct daily Start-up meetings and communicate plant and departmental information
- Assist other departments as needed
- Lead production personnel which includes assigning work, training personnel, solving problems, interpreting blueprints, specifications, route sheets, production orders, etc.
- Be able to communicates the status of their department to other departments and coordinates material flow to support production schedules
- Provide parts and equipment to operators to reduce indirect labor. Keep team members on direct labor.
- Promote quality to all employees and assure quality standards are achieved via QC sign off.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to reduce production downtime
- Conduct self in a professional manner and elevate any employee related issues to Manager or HR.
- Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Expected to fill in for absent team members and work on direct labor when feasible.
- Submit Maintenance Workorders and coordinate with Maintenance to reduce production downtime
- Assists employees in the resolution of manufacturing problems. Communicates the status of their department to other departments and coordinates material flow to support production schedules
- Supports departmental planning and adherence to budget: Scrap/EHR/Delivery/Cycle Count
- Montitor daily production scans for labor reporting accuracy including all completion scans.
- Utilizing department manpower as required to maintain production levels
- First level approver for time off (vacation, PTO)
- Actively work with other departments to manage manpower, overtime, product cross-training, joint efforts, etc.
- Assist with supervisor to conduct and evaluate any employee related issues to Manager or HR.
- Active involvement in DPS through continuous improvement and kaizen events
- Effectively direct/lead a department 6S program
- Submit departmental Purchase Requisitions as required
- Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Uses all designated Personal Protective Equipment as required
- Must be able to work scheduled overtime hours
- Assist other departments as needed
- Perform other tasks as directed
Salary Range: $ 25.00 - 28.00
