Salary:

The Lead Security Guards role is to undertake the surveillance of our premises and protection of our patients, staff and visitors. The Lead will be responsible for detecting any suspicious behavior and preventing vandalism, thefts, criminal behavior and contraband in the building.  The security guard must be well-trained in surveillance and de-escalation techniques. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail oriented and be able to recognize suspicious behavior.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities of Security Guard are:

 

  • Knowledge of rules and guidelines of the recovery center de-escalation techniques.
  • Complete incident reports and take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
  • Monitor premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence and performs routine rounds inside and outside of building.
  • Is the lead on scheduling weekly patient room checks and monitoring safety.
  • Responsible for all packages in and out of the building to assure no contraband enters the facility.
  • Direct responsibility for appropriate patient/belonging search.
  • Help transport patients in OVP Health vehicles when needed.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in and around the property.
  • Assist with ensuring all people on the property are appropriate and safe.
  • Secure all exits, doors, and windows.
  • Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
  • Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions.
  • Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation.
  • Prevent contraband from entering the building.
  • Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.
  • Responsibility for monthly check of fire extinguishers, fire doors, outside lighting, safety drills and accompanying paperwork.
  • Improves and implements safety processes.
  • Responsible for the safe and accurate storage of all patient belongings brought into the facility.
  • Delegates to the Safety & Security Team and completes scheduling.
  • Assists Director of Inpatient Behavioral Services with job performance evaluations and coaching of Safety & Security team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED or a combination of education and experience. 
  • Trained in First Aid/BLS and de-escalation
  • Proven experience as Security Officer or guard

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

TRAVEL

This position requires travel to transport patients.

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Work hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm with expectations to cover vacant shifts.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a 24/7 behavioral health inpatient facility.
