ADDENDUM TO TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION__SPECIFIC TO SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS: Maintain current knowledge of special education laws and regulations and meet their requirements. Perform accurate, functional and relevant assessment of individual student's learning needs for eligibility and educational programming.Maintain current and accurate Individual Education Plans.Work in a problem-solving manner with other staff and parents to develop a program that supports student growth and success.Work collaboratively with staff to develop appropriate modifications, curriculum, and educational environments for students with exceptionalities.Work with a variety of students with exceptionalities from all legally recognized domains.Will be required to attend a Special Education Academy. Job Goals: Provide support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living.Delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.Collaborating with other teachers, professional staff and administrative staff in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents and/or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
