Position Title: Teacher Consultant
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Special Education
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in Special Education
- Master's Degree
- At least three years successful experience as a classroom teacher (at least two years in Special Education)
Job Summary:
Collaborate with general education, Special Education and ancillary staff to develop and maintain academic and behavioral programming for students with an Individualized Education Plan. Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team. Collects, analyzes and interprets data and participates in Special Education identification process. Work in collaboration with building and ancillary staff to implement, track and review behavior plans.
Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Coordinates caseload management of assigned classrooms
- Coordinates temporary placement of new students
- Coordinates determination of student eligibility with Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team
- Coordinates Medicaid billing procedures (when applicable)
- Coordinates scheduling of classes for Special Education students (when applicable)
Performance Responsibilities (non-prioritized)
- Attends Student Assistance Team meetings with general education staff and assists in creating, monitoring, and revising intervention strategies and plans
- Participates in the district's efforts to assist all students in making academic and behavioral progress
- Understanding of how adaptive technology may be used to enhance the education of students with disabilities
