Serve as a member of the teaching team. Assist the teacher implementing the children’s daily activities in accordance with the policies, philosophy and mission statement of the Lutheran Home and services and Shepherd’s Flock Intergenerational Child Care Center.
Shepherd’s Flock Intergenerational Child Care Center was established in 1997. The center provides professional childcare and developmentally appropriate education in a faith-filled environment. Teacher-child relationships are geared to provide an atmosphere of love and understanding while emphasizing the welfare and personality development of each child and their family.
Responsibilities:
- Work under the supervision of the teacher and shall not assume full responsibility for the group.
- Assist in ensuring a clean, neat, safe and organized classroom in a Christian environment.
- Assist in supervising all activities to ensure safety of all children at all times.
- Use positive discipline and guidance techniques.
- Assist in providing an environment sensitive to the children’s socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds and individual needs and capabilities.
- Assist in having frequent interaction with children.
- Assist with self-care, meal and snack service.
- Attend staff meetings when requested.
- Attend twenty (20) clock hours of in-service training per year.
- Work as needed and/or assigned.
- Assist daily with team teacher and assistants.
- Have immediate communication with director regarding suspected child abuse and neglect.
- Have immediate communication with director regarding health status of child.
- Assist in preparation of all materials.
- Assist in implementing experiences that promote growth spiritually, cognitively, emotionally, socially and physically and are developmentally appropriate.
- Assist in implementing the intergenerational programming.
- Assist with the implementation of the weekly lesson plan posted in the room.
- Assist in daily classroom log.
- Assist teacher in written reports by passing on observation on children’s actions

Requirements:- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
- Must meet all state (DCFS) qualification requirements for a licensed Child Care facility.
- Experience in working with children preferred.
