American Heritage Schools of Broward County are currently accepting applications for Teacher Assistants. The Teacher Assistant position is in charge of assisting the lead teacher with duties such as attendance and supervision during transitions.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Teacher Assistant position works under the supervision of the lead teacher, providing instructional support and specialized care to students. Their duties include documenting progress, supporting the students, and teacher with all school-related activities. They are also responsible for upholding the school’s morals and values and ensuring the safety of the students. Record keeping such as attendance, grading, filing, and technology support may be a part of the assistant job as well.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative duties
Making copies
Taking attendance,
Lunch orders
Dismissal line
Assist in grading student’s assignments when requested by the lead teacher
File/organize documents/student’s assignments for preparation of grading and/or to be sent home
Assist with setting up classroom materials in preparation for activities/lessons
Supervise the students during class transitions and special activities
Ensure the classroom is safe and clean
Contact the Maintenance department with any requests for items that need attention
Communicate effectively with the lead teacher regarding students' behavior, progress, or needs when the lead teacher is not present
SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend and complete all trainings and meetings directed by your supervisor
Mandatory before-care/after-care, and Corporate Care duties
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to facilitate and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to utilize educational technologies such as iPads, learning software, and basic word-processing software
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
