The Starbucks experience starts in our Plants where we have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering and logistics. 

 

This job contributes to Starbucks success by assisting with operator training, daily production, and process improvement for the Tea department. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. 

 

As a tea blending specialist, you will: 

 

  • Lead up to twelve partners in one or two operation rooms.  

  • Coordinate floor partners' efforts and suggest changes when necessary, evaluate progress and provide, assistance and direction to increase efficiency.  

  • Operate blending equipment safely and efficiently within the flavor oil room.  

  • Serve as point of contact between the supervisor, quality assurance, other departments and blending partners; ability to communicate and work with others.  

  • Assist in the development and administration of the operator training process to ensure an efficient and quality driven operation. Facilitate the production training and evaluation process. Document training and trainee evaluations.  

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of tracking systems for reporting production efficiency, productivity and scrap loss.  

  • Coordinate with production and distribution partners on finished goods inventory issues.  

  • Support production partners in diagnosing and resolving operational issues. Monitor logs to track recurring production problems and recommends process changes. Develop and maintains troubleshooting information for production equipment.  

  • Understand and follow established safety guidelines, programs and procedures; and actively work to prevent safety incidents.  

  • Support food safety, legality and quality programs.  

  • Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures. Monitor and document quality measures using analytical tools.  

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

We'd love to hear from people with: 

  • High school diploma/GED, US military service or equivalent  

  • Intermediate math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and unit of measure conversion from metric to English standard  

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to chest level in a safe manner multiple times a shift  

  • Basic computer skills to enable recording of production, completing labels and printing  

  • Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures  

  • Must earn certification to work in the oil room (contains flammable hazards)  

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing  

  • Attention to detail  

  • Organizational skills 

  • Ability to guide others in multi-faceted production environment  

  • Knowledge of production tracking software  

  • Ability to gather, record and report inventory and system information using manual and automated systems  

  • Ability to prioritize work  

  • Ability to work in elevated areas  

  • Available to work variable shifts to support business needs  

  • Leading others (1 year)  

  • Collecting and analyzing data to make process improvement recommendations (1 year)  

  • Manufacturing or warehouse environment (1 year)  

  • Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR 117) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with BRC or SQF certifications. (Preferred)
