YOUR LIFE AS A TAX SITE SPECIALIST
This full-time finance team role works during regular business hours.
As a Tax Site Specialist with our human services nonprofit, you are responsible for assisting the training manager in setting up the site for tax preparation services, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. When you arrive at the site, you greet the host site counterpart and maintain a positive relationship with them, providing a welcoming experience for our clients and the community. With your great coordinator skills, you oversee the daily operations of the site, making sure that tax preparers, quality reviewers, admin staff, intake, and volunteers follow site procedures. In this financial services role, you create the schedule and keep track of staff and volunteer's days and hours, ensuring that everyone is trained and certified to prepare tax returns within VITA scope. Using your eye for detail, you monitor tax preparers for errors and adherence to tax laws and regulations and ensure that the staff members only prepare returns at their certification level.
When working on our finance team, you are responsible for ensuring that tax returns are transmitted daily to the IRS and New York State and that any rejected returns are corrected within 24 hours. Because you are discreet in this financial professional position, you also ensure that the privacy and confidentiality of tax returns are maintained and quality reviews are performed. You make sure that the site is adequately staffed and maintain a record of volunteer agreements for all certified staff.
Throughout the day, you ensure that the site has all the required Publications and IRS posters and that IRS Quality Alerts are distributed to each staff/volunteer for review. On our finance team, you oversee the day-to-day operations of the site during tax season and wrap up and close the Tax Site post-April 15. You correct all outstanding returns and provide customer service on all outstanding matters. As a pro at financial services, you perform a variety of duties to ensure the smooth operation of the site. You take pride in your work as a Tax Site Specialist and enjoy being a part of a finance team that helps low-income individuals and families in the community! You love working with our human services nonprofit and thrive in this role as a Tax Site Specialist!
