Job Description
What will you contribute?
Finastra is currently seeking a Tax Lead, International to join the Global Tax Reporting group in our Tax team. The role requires a highly technical and driven experienced tax professional to manage the international (excluding US and Canada) tax compliance and income tax accounting for a complex multi-national organization. The successful candidate will likely already be operating as a Senior Tax Manager. This position reports to the Tax Partner, Global Tax Reporting.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Your deliverables will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead tax provisioning and tax compliance internationally (excluding US and Canada), including acting as consolidation lead. This includes ownership of all tax accounting issues relating to goodwill, intangibles, VAs, acquisitions and disposals and responding to auditors' queries.
  • Manage the timely and controlled preparation of tax returns for all Finastra's international entities (excluding US and Canada). This includes working closely with the Tax Lead, APAC, local finance managers and outsourced service providers to identify opportunities to mitigate risks and optimize our tax positions.
  • Provide metric-driven confidence on the overall governance and efficiencies of the region's tax reporting and compliance, including driving improvements in ETR forecasting, modelling of impact of changes and enhanced insights and analytics to support decision making.
  • Drive forward any enquiries with tax authorities internationally, working collaboratively with local finance managers and other team members across the organization to bring them to an effective close.
  • Leverage your international tax knowledge and deep understanding of entities in the region to support various tax initiatives, which could include transfer pricing, restructuring, legal entity rationalization, advice on contracts and projects relating to processes and controls.
  • Direct and review work performed by Senior Tax Analysts and help to coach and support their ongoing career development.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
  • CPA/chartered accountant or chartered tax advisor
  • Experience (8+ years) of leading international consolidated tax reporting and compliance for a global complex multi-national organization with a history of M&A.
  • Exceptional ASC740 technical tax accounting expertise including purchase accounting.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and to drive complex transformations involving cross-functional teams
  • Strong writing, analytical, and oral presentation skills including creativity in presentation materials
  • Ability to develop and drive process improvements across global taxes, including development of a global tax controls framework, monitoring metrics and operation of effective controls.
  • Leads by example by striving to innovate, introducing best practices and championing control standards to allow the organization to achieve optimal standards of tax reporting.
  • Advanced excel skills and an ability to understand end to end tax processes and systems.
