About the Role

As a Tax Associate, you will help entrepreneurs gain a better understanding of their business through their financial numbers, walk them through filing tax returns and playing a part in them building generational wealth through home ownership because their finances are in order.

You’ll be responsible for preparation of year-end financial statements, preparation of schedules, preparing tax returns (business and personal), setting up payroll, setting up sales tax, filing sales tax reports, speaking to government tax authorities, and tax planning.

What Your Day to Day Will Look Like

• Correspond with customers to discuss, explain and advise on tax-related matters
• Prepare and process sales tax, business tax returns, personal tax returns and other tax matters
• Setup payroll accounts with state and local taxing authorities
• Research tax issues that arise from notices or compliance work
• Engage in tax planning for small businesses and individuals
• Correspond with the tax authorities when required
• Quarterback any sales tax and corporate tax audits that may arise
• Assist in the development of systems and processes pertaining to the tax department
• Pitch in for matters relating to full-cycle accounting when required
• Coach and mentor our accountants and tax juniors

What You Need to Succeed

• You can deliver spectacular customer service, you have great communication skills and you are able to easily explain difficult concepts
• You have an active EA or CPA designation
• You have an active PTIN
• You have 5+ years of tax experience working in a firm or in industry
• Knowledge of relevant accounting frameworks and US tax
• You have experience negotiating tax audits with the tax authorities
• You are confident and are comfortable with being the decision-maker with regards to tax issues at the firm
• You are exceptionally detail-oriented
• You are tech-savvy
• You are a problem solver
• You are able to and like working in a fast-paced environment
• You are able to meet tight deadlines
• You have experience with Gusto payroll services and TaxDome practice management
• You know how to use QuickBooks Online and ProConnect tax preparation software

Our Recruitment Process

Your application will be reviewed and those moving to the next step will be asked to complete a brief 5-question one-way video interview where you will answer these questions on your own time via your webcam. Following that, successful candidates moving to the next stage will be asked to take part in a 1-on-1 video interview.

Pay: $58,496.56 - $63,587.26 per year
