A CPA or licensed attorney who has authority on federal income tax matters involving financially troubled companies. A leader with extensive experience in advising debtors, creditors, potential acquirers, and investors in troubled companies, both within and outside of the bankruptcy context and experience in modeling stock basis, Section 108 cancellation of debt income and related attribute reduction, and Section 382 consequences of various transaction structures.
What You'll Do:
- Support the augmentation of current accounts while helping to break into other targets
- Perform key account planning activities such as company and industry research and relationship mapping inclusive of assembling internal sales teammates and delivery experts
- Draft regular reports and make presentations to clients and stakeholders
- Shape team culture and grow departmental performance by enabling team building, strategy development, and practice development
- Mentor junior personnel, ensure constant improvement in their performance and skills, readying them for promotion and increased responsibilities
- Assist with modeling and financial analysis of impending and on-going transactions, specifically in the areas of section 108
- Develop models that are highly flexible in order to be able to maneuver through multiple scenarios for the purpose of enabling any necessary and abrupt changes on a real-time basis
Required Qualifications:
- 12 years of experience in an M&A capacity within a fast-paced, highly competitive, and dynamic environment, preferably focusing on restructuring and turnaround tax matters
- Experience leading M&A and RTS tax transactions
- Partner internally and with client executives, key stakeholders, and other advisors to ensure the success of each transaction, primarily through delivery of well-communicated analyses of tax matters
- In-depth tax and financial modeling experience
- Extensive experience managing a tax M&A team through the entire life-cycle of a transaction
- Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects and meet aggressive deadlines, while remain calm in uncertain and stressful times, inspiring the same
