Job description

Located in Lancaster, SC on a 37 acre farm, Laurel Haven Estate Vineyard and Winery is one of South Carolina’s newest vineyard and wineries. For the last 5 years we have hosted hundreds of weddings and other events. We now have a beautiful Tasting Room, outdoor seating areas including firepits, and a pavilion seating over 150 people in total. We are ready to open our doors 2-3 days a week, increasing to 6 or 7 days a week (seasonal hours) with live music and food trucks every weekend and mid-week events most weeks. The Tasting Room Manager’s first-most responsibilities are maintaining this quality experience for our guests, a fun work environment for our staff, and our reputation for excellence.

Tasting Room Manager is responsible for all Tasting Room and Hospitality operations. These responsibilities encompass all ‘hospitality’ operations but do not include responsibilities related to wine production or grape farming.

The Tasting Room Manager will develop and implement processes and procedures for staff oversight to maintain a high quality of Tasting Room appearance and operation, ensuring the highest level of guest experience. The Tasting Room Manager will also drive product sales and revenue through guest engagement and private and corporate event bookings.

Objectives of the Role

· Optimize Tasting Room sales and increase revenue targets month-over-month.

· Analyze consumer needs, market trends, and potential corporate partnerships from an ROI perspective, maximizing profit potential for private and corporate events.

· Appraise new ideas for the Tasting Room and strategize implementation to increase weekly revenue and guest count, to include Laurel Haven Estate special events.

· Assess current competitor offerings and ensure that Laurel Haven Estate seeks opportunity for differentiation.

Duties

  • Oversee all aspects and operations of Laurel Haven Estate Events, Retail, Tasting Room and Bed and Breakfast.
  • Oversee all administrative duties and procedures over Events, Tasting Room and Bed and Breakfast to include hiring, training, discipline and managing employee development plans.
  • Oversee all aspects of payroll for Events, Retail and Tasting Room personnel, including, but not limited to Time Off Requests, Time Card Edits, Tips and Commissions, etc.
  • Update Events, Retail and Tasting Room policy and procedure manuals as necessary and implement training program regarding policies, safety, hospitality, customer service, sales etc.
  • Create and oversee weekly hospitality department training (primary focus of these meetings will center on service and guest relations, efficiency, Laurel Haven Estate wine knowledge, safety, teamwork, POS System, and company procedures).
  • Maximize sales and control expenses to make departments most profitable and run within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure open and ongoing communications with Administration and staff.
  • Assist in general ledger, profit and loss, trial balance and budget reconciliation on regular basis and make strategic financial decisions.
  • Oversee inventory control, reconciliation and maintain full stock of all wines, food, supplies and items and ensure zero shrinkage.
  • Facilitate Laurel Haven Estate's high standards of cleanliness, customer service, safety, and maintenance in all departments.
  • Team member to develop programming (entertainment, special events).
  • Professionally represent Laurel Haven Estate at applicable meetings and events.
  • Perform other duties as required including assisting other departments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Three to five (3-5) years management experience, hospitality, retail or a related field working closely with the public.
  • Must have active ServSafe certification.
  • Able to use a personal computer for register transactions, word processing, spreadsheets and budgeting of expenses incurred, on a monthly basis. Ability to read P&L’s and control cost centers.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to coordinate various activities simultaneously. Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have basic wine knowledge to help customer service.
  • Ability to deal with guests, co-workers, and business associates in a courteous and professional manner. Must be people and Hospitality oriented.
  • Must have a valid drivers license
