Job description

As the Talent AcquisitionAssociate, you play a vital role in optimizing recruitment processes and enhancing the overall candidate experience. Serving as the primary point of contact for recruitment and customer inquiries, this role ensures efficient communication and logistical support for our campus partners and community constituents. This role involves exercising independent judgment, maintaining a high level of confidentiality, and demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

This position is eligible for a combination of remote and in-person (hybrid) work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.



Specific Job Duties and Tasks

  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries related to recruitment by monitoring team’s email inbox, resolving IT tickets, and answering phone calls.
  • Plan/schedule team meetings and gatherings and other administrative functions to support the department.
  • Assist department with interview scheduling, room blocking, and other logistical details to guarantee efficient recruitment operations.
  • Responsible for the full-cycle recruitment activities including talent sourcing, communicating with potential job candidates, screening, interviewing, and final candidate selection for assigned colleges and divisions on campus. Collaborate and participate as needed with scheduling interviews, conducting references, verifying credentials, and preparing offer letters.
  • Source and maintain a pipeline of candidates that align to the needs of the organization, including sourcing diverse candidates and leveraging diverse candidate pipelines.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements as needed for candidates during high-level searches, demonstrating a commitment to providing a professional and accommodating experience.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for hiring departments throughout the recruitment cycle providing consultative support, coaching and influence. Advise on candidate selection to address bias and ensure equitable treatment of all candidates.
  • Distribute appropriate communication materials to employees and leadership within the unit/department.
  • Support and communicate HR updates and initiatives.
  • Identify recruitment challenges and make recommendations to supervisor for change/improvement.

Position Qualifications


Education or Equivalency Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Marketing, Communications or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 0-6 months experience in a recruiting/talent-acquisition role, involving one of the following:
    • Full-cycle recruitment activities (sourcing, candidate management, interviewing, etc)
    • Administrative support of recruitment operations (scheduling interviews, answering department emails/answering phones) in higher education, corporate or a recruiting agency environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and task oriented.
  • Experience promoting and supporting an inclusive culture within our organization.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including polished phone, oral presentation, email and social media etiquette, with a focus on providing outstanding customer service to candidates, customers, and campus partners.
  • Experience with basic office applications (ex. Microsoft suite 365: Outlook, Excel, Word)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with applicant tracking solutions (ATS/CMS tools) online sourcing and research tools.
