We are a local design studio with a passionate, creative, hard-working, and dedicated group of individuals that are determined to rejuvenating the craft of sewing and making people feel good in their clothes.

The successful exposure of our tailoring operation, which started strictly by word-of-mouth testimonials, has allowed us to branch out, including: repairs division for knits/wovens/denim, custom making, garment copy and a retail division.

Our clients come from far and wide to take advantage of our wide range of services and to have their clothes expertly fitted or repaired.

The tailor/dressmaker will contribute to the daily production sewing of many different types of garments on a variety of fabrics, more specifically on high-end and designer garments, from wedding gowns and suits to denim, following SewRob standards.

MUST HAVE:

• Professional sewing experience in suits, jackets, pants, gowns, dresses, skirts
• Adaptability to the SewRob standards
• Attention to detail: ability to replicate original design/construction while preserving fabric
• Ability to manipulate patterns
• Passion to learn and advance skill levels

MUST be confident using industrial and home sewing machines:

• Straight stitch
• Blind hem
• Coverstitch
• Purl Stitch

In additional to great hand control of sewing machines, candidates must have the full ability to hand sew various operations that cannot be completed by sewing machine, due to original couture construction, for example: hand-pricking on suiting.

SewRob has openings for two different skill sets. The tailor/dressmaker position is for someone with strong sewing skills and an enthusiasm for sewing on all types of garments and fabrics.

You are asked to always be producing. This is a deadline-oriented operation; the environment is geared towards constant production.

Full Time is preferable, 35-40 hours per week. Part time, with the expectation of becoming full time, will be considered. The store hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. Some Saturdays may be required.

Submit your resume and cover letter describing your sewing experience. If chosen to move forward for an interview, you will be asked to show some of your sewn samples and perform a hands on sewing test.
